
The second workshop of the SIRIUS & RESPOND Workshop and Seminar Series "The path of integration in contemporary societies" organized by the UNIFI Unit owas held on Friday the 8th of March at the University of Florence.
The members of the Territorial Commission of Florence – chaired by the President Anna Maria Santoro – met the students of the BA degree in Political Science, questioning the impact of recent migration movements on asylum and international protection regime in Italy. Davide Gardina, Giovanni Godoli Spadolini, Gaia Lott, Ilaria Mariotti and Silvia Sassano explored the role of the Territorial Commissions, that is the administrative institutions responsible for dealing with asylum seekers' applications for international protection.Students had the opportunity to engage in a simulation of practical cases, coordinated by Giulia Cragnolini, representative of UNCHR in the Territorial Commission of Florence.
The next workshop will take place at the University of Florence on March 22 and it will be devoted to the topic "Integration policies between soft law and best practices".
