The Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs of the European Commission (DG HOME) has set up a Commission expert group of migrants, including asylum applicants and refugees, to advise the Commission on policies in the field of migration, asylum and integration of migrants. This is important to gather the expertise of migrants in the design and implementation of policies in the area of migration, asylum and integration, but is essential to reach the goal to create a tool more effective and better tailored to the needs on the ground. For this reason, the Commission is calling for applications with a view to selecting members of a group in order to structure and target ways at the EU level to regularly consult migrants on policies that directly concern them.
Actually, the group, chaired by a representative of DG HOME, will consist of up to 20 members that should have a migrant background, proven and relevant competence and experience in migration, asylum and integration and they should also be well connected with a wider network of migrant organisations and communities. The members will represent a common interest and they have to be able to advice a policy orientation common to different migrant stakeholders.
Deadline for application: 21 September 2020.
