Dr Somdeep Sen is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Social Sciences and Business at Roskilde University, Denmark. His postdoc research focuses on the politics of spatial planning in the West Bank and Jerusalem. This project is funded by the Danish Council for Independent Research. Somdeep is also part of an EU H2020 project SIRIUS focusing on skills and integration of migrants, refugees and asylum applicants in European labour markets. His doctoral research focused on the politics of Hamas as a resistance and government in the Gaza Strip. Somdeep was also co-investigator of a Carlsberg Foundation funded project on “The Struggle of State-Building in Palestine: Exploring “State-less”-Society Relations in the West Bank”. He has conducted fieldwork in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, Israel, Egypt, Iran, Mexico, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Turkey, India, Bangladesh and South Korea. Somdeep’s work has been published in Middle East Critique, Arab Studies Quarterly, Interventions: International Journal of Postcolonial Studies , London Review of Books, The Huffington Post, Open Democracy and Al-Ahram Weekly.
